This week focused on AI’s practical constraints: deployment and dependable power. Enfuse’s acquisition of Kubia suggests growing value in edge infrastructure and implementation expertise. Key challenges include integration, cybersecurity, resilience, data control and liability when AI affects physical processes. The assessment was cautiously constructive, but Enfuse’s claims remain unverified: financial details, deployment evidence and integration timing were undisclosed. Sovereign AI and local processing were framed as practical customer requirements. Data-centre electricity demand drove the second theme, including interest in small modular reactors. A proposed Savannah River Site project pairs a one-gigawatt AI data centre with about two gigawatts of on-site generation, initially natural-gas-fired. It remains a proposal.
